Oil discharge

I found a 1966 Evinrude 6hp Fisherman at a garage sale. It had been sitting for years, but it fired right up and runs great....but there seems to be a problem. There is a small hole on the underneath side of the anti-cavitation plate. Oil is dripping out of it (yikes!). Is this normal? What is the hole for? It does not smell like gear oil and the hole is too uniform to be from corrosion. Any ideas what is going on? Could it just be years worth of gunk working it's way out of the exhaust?

Re: Oil discharge

It's a drain hole for the exhaust housing, the oil is probably unburned oil/fuel mixture, not uncommon.
