My trim wire to the sensor ripped and a lovely green color appeared. My question is Can I attach a wire (10, 12, 14 what size/kind?) heat shrink it and re attach to sensor? Any suggestion would be helpful.

When I got my boat, the trim limit switch wires were broken and somewhat rotten... I pulled a new cable through the hole in the transom (16 ga. is plenty heavy) and used crimp on butt splices with heat shrink tubing. Works great.
