Hello, I have a 1993 Mercruiser 115 HP Sterndrive that is using alot of gear lube. I did drain it out to make sure there was no water entering, and it doesnt appear to have water in it. I do notice that there is oil in the bottom of my bilge. It is not using using motor oil. Could my gear lube be leaking into the bilge somehow. I did have the drive unit boot replaced 2 years ago as water was leaking into the bilge. Any help would be apreciated...

Just so you know, the lower unit on your outboard is not called an outdrive. That term is for an inboard/outboard setup. Might help others know what you are talking about.

He does not have an outboard. He has a Mercruiser I/O, This topic is in the wrong section.

If you have gear oil in bilge these problems can cause it:
1) oil reservoir cracked and leaking
2) oil level sensor in reservoir leaking at bottom
3) reservoir hose routed wrong and coupler has worn hole in it
4) plastic fitting to outdrive is cracked and oil will run down transom at the 9 o'clock position
5) Upper yoke seal bad and U-boot full of oil and leaking back thru gimbal brg and shaft seal
