My roomate took the flywheel off this motor and cant remeber how to get these to springs back on or where they go. They are used to bring those to metal piece back after you pull the rope but we just cant figure it out. Any help would be great.

Re: 7 HP Seaking Starter Help

They go under the pawls, one end hooked to the flat plate, the other end hooked to the pawl. When properly installed, they hold the pawl inward toward the nut. When the motor starts, centrifugal force throws the pawls outward against the spring pressure, thereby dis-engaging the starter.

With that information, look at and you'll figure it out.

FR, Isn't it the other way around? Don't they hold the pawl out to engage the starter and the centrifical force pulls them in? I may be wrong because I'm not really familier with this particular engine, but thats the way I've always thought they worked.
