Recently purchased 1992 Aquasport 1450 bass boat. Boat runs great and bought at good price. Wanting everything to work and look good started repairing and replacing. New bilge pump and aerator with new wiring and ordered new carpet. The carpet came and uncovered a problem I never knew about. The deck is solid and the transom and rear of boat seem fine. The seats mount on a raised area above the floor. There is only a small floor area and it is mushy and weak. There is an area under the console (pictures attached) that is down to soaked plywood. What do I need to do to fix the deck. I would like to keep the boat for some time as I bought it as I am retiring and plan on doing much fishing. Thanks in advance for information.

I have a 71 starcraft and when I got it practically the whole floor was completely rotted and soaked like you're describing...I just had to pull out that old wood and completely refloor it. I don't know if there's much else to do it to fix that problem.

Hello Tower and welcome to Iboats..

Aye..that dreaded question of " how much to remove " .. We all know how much from the get go :) all of the bad stuff..

Procedure is another question..

I recomend you start with a hammer.. thump..thump.. drill a 1/4" hole at your locations in the floor that boarders that thump and bang convertion spot ( Hope Im explaining well ) see what comes out..wety stuff or good stuff..

After you determine were your rotted wood is.. mark a line from point to point..and cut ( make sure you dont drill through the hull or even worse saw cut through ;) ).

Or you can just blow a hole .. enough to get your arm in there and inspect it further .. then go from there..

All in all you have to remove the bad to scab to the new ( unless your doing the whole floor ).

YD.
