'68 Merc.outboard 100HP lower unit question

Hello, just realized a problem with my lower unit!!! Seems to have a hair line crack :eek: just above the skeg, towards the the front "bullet end" , also looks to be some corroding~~no oil leak, just concerned! Is this a problem and if it is.....any 4 sale??!! Thank you for any help..Glenn

Did you hit something? Check the prop shaft for any wobble. You could have a prop repair shop weld the LU and then repaint. That is much cheaper than replacing.

Hey thanks for the respond!! Nope, nothing hit, just looks like a vertical split about 1 1\2", maybe water\freeze?? This can be fixed,heli welded?? I wasnt sure wat the material was!!?? Thanks..Glenn
