I'm rebuilding my entire engine and my next task is to look at the lower unit. It is an electric shift with the 5" extension. While it was running, I was getting milky lube after every trip. Is there a seal kit that contains everything that I need for the LU? My parts manual only lists individual parts, not complete kits. Does anybody know the part # for a seal kit? Is the water pump kit sold separately? Does anybody have the # for that? Also, is there anything that I should carefully inspect or replace while I'm in there that may not be listed in the repair manual? Thanks.

You didn't list your model number, so the one that I looked at doesn't list a seal kit for the lower unit, you have to get seperate parts.
The water pump parts are sold seperately, you will probably have to use aftermarket pump parts.

Water pump repair kit (complete with housing) 381577
Impeller repair kit (no housing)379768

OMC didn't make seal kits. See if there is one here at iboats.

Re: LU Rebuild 1963 75hp Starflite with Extension

I looked up those numbers and unless I'm wrong (which I have been many times before), they fit a 40hp. I believe that I need part #379769 or #379776. I can't find any info back to 1963 so I've based this information on the parts that fit a 1968 85hp. Many of the powerhead parts are interchangeable between my model and a '68 85hp, so I'm betting that the LU parts will exchange as well. Is this correct?
