I have 2000 175 Ficht on a 24' SeaSwirl Striper that has been running great for 10 years until two weeks ago. Installed new feul injector and new feul pump ($1800). Ran well for two weeks. Now when I get it over 1500 rpm it completely dies. No compression in one cylinder. Mechanic wants to haul it, take off the headers and see what's up. He thinks a cylinder is dead and the whole engine may be shot. If I have to re-power, what's the opinion on staying with Evinrude and the E-Tecs or moving to Yamaha or others? 2-stroke or 4 stroke? Mainly use the boat for fishing and tubing with the kids in LI Sound. Thanks!

I have a pair of 2007 175HP E-Tecs and they have been bulletproof. Best motors I've ever owned. Economy of a four stroke with the grunt of a 2 stroke. Quiet, low oil use, very low idle rpm (475 rpm) and way less weight than a four stroke.
