Just rebuilt the trim cylinders on my 1977 115 evinrude model no.115799S and drained the pump, what is the best way to bleed the air out of the system?

Fill it up and cycle from extreme to extreme of travel, up and down.
You can loosen the manual release and do it by hand, keep checking the level and fill as needed. Tighten release valve TIGHT and try it out.

I can do my 150hp by hand, you just have to go slow and give the fluid time to move through the internal valves. Once it starts moving it gets easier.

it will never build up with manual release screw loosened.

Tilt motor all the way up and lock it there, open , fill, close. Unlock, lower motor all the way down. Now back up, lock, fill, close, lower. Repeat, repeat, repeat..

Use Dextrin II auto trans fluid, or power steering fluid.
