Re: Water in the trim oil

I had that issue on my MerCruiser. The only source of water would be the seals around the trim rods. Since I was reticient to spend several hundred to repair, I just changed the fluid a couple of times a season. I would suck out as much as I could from the resevoir and refill with ATF.

Is it hard to get to the trim rods? what all would i have to take off. i am not looking into spending alot of money only cuase it's an old boat i want to fix the problem and sell it to get a newer boat for the family. we Still take the boat out like this just i redo the oil everytime. could that be bad for it? if so what could it end up doing?

You should repost this in the I/O forum. Tell them what kind of drive you have, and they will likely assist.
