I have a 1990 85HP engine. Worked awesome until this year the conecting rod broke free just under the wrist pin and it put a few pits in the cylinder wall. My question, is it possible to bore over any and only get larger rings or do I have to get pistons as well? Just wondering if it's feasible to rebuild this engine or just save the time and effort and get a newer one.

Re: Rebuild question.

If you have the engine apart already take the block to a machine they will tell you if you can bore it or junk it and they would be able to tell you what or for that matter how much the are going to bore it and what rings to get. The machine shop I used the guy was a straight shooter told me the way it was. Goodluck
