I start and run my Johnson 115 and it runs fine at idle/mid/wide open speeds. After parking at a sand bar for an hour or so, then idle it some, then I try to plane off, it goes dead. I pump bulb 5-10 times and it starts up again and runs at idle, then goes dead. After two three tries I finally get it to get on plane and no more issues. While cold it does idle good. I have replaced water fuel seperator and had carbs rebuilt last year. Drained the gas tank last year after I discovered water in gas tank...any suggestions?

Re: 1994 Johnson 115 HP Fuel Problem?

If you have to pump up the primer bulb more than once during the day, the fuel line is losing prime. Listen for the wheezing sound of a fitting sucking air while you squeeze the bulb. Look for fuel leaks at every junction. Check for leaking carb floats/bowl gaskets while you squeeze the bulb.

Could be a faulty bulb or quick-disconnect -- those do wear out after awhile.

You may have another problem on top of this one, but it'll be hard to track down unless the fuel line is holding pressure.
