Correct oil for 1973 Hydro-Electric shift O/B

Hi,

I have a 1973 65HP Evinrude outboard with Hydro-Electric shift. I believe the correct lower unit oil is OMC Premium Blend or type C oil. Can I get a confirmation on this?

Just a minor point - if its a 1973, its not hydro-electric. '73 was the first year of the hydro-mechanical "triples."

Hi, I have a 72 hydro electric 50 and have been using 5/30 motor oil which seems to work OK and is a lot less money!! Worth a try.
