Hi:

I'd appreciate any advice you might offer on the following issue. I have a 19' Tracker with a Lowrance unit mounted at the console. The problem is when on plane, I can't get a good depth reading from the Lowrance - it just keeps flashing the last "good" reading it got. The transponder is mounted at the bottom of the transom. The manual indicates that one cause of the condition is the transponder is in turbulant water, and not getting a smooth flow across it. This, I believe, is my problem.

On the Tracker, below and two feet forward of the transom, is a structural member that actually represents the true bottom of the boat. The transom itself is higher than that, and the water flow below the transom is necessarily turbulent when on plane.

So, any suggestions on where to mount the transponder to give me data when on the move? On the "true" bottom? Through the hull?

Advice welcome - thanks.
