I replaced an alternator that was not charging with a new replacement. When it is running (w/new alternator) the alternator jerks like it is being "loaded and unloaded". This jerking makes a clicking noise as it happens. The problem is sporadic, it seems worse as the rpm's increase, but at times goes away completely. The jerking finally started to eat the serpentine belt, so I idled back to the trailer. The voltage gage goes from plus to minus w/ the new alternator, I don't believe it is charging. Thanks in advance for any help,this site has helped with several problems I couldn't find answers for anywhere.
