Mariner 8hp Pouring gas out top of Carb

I have 90's model mariner 8 hp and need help. When you sqeeze the gas hose bubble gas pours out of the top of the carburator plate and it runs fine wide open but pops and spits when trying to idle then dies, it seems to be getting to much gas and something is wrong in the carburator. Does it need a carb rebuild?? I am lost and the outboard place says it will be three weeks till they can get to it, any help appreciated!

definietly a carb cleaned and new gaskets, and pump kit.
Kenny if you have any kind of mech apptitude, you can do it yourself.
the kit is about 35/ 50 bucks depending on the kit you buy.
don't buy the kit with all springs/plugs and such.
just carb and pump kit.

Ok well thanks alot guys i am going to start looking for a carb rebuild kit. I am pretty sure i can do it myself i just didnt want to spend alot of money on the wrong stuff. I well try it out thanks again!
