What size motor?

We are restoring a '50's vintage wooden rowboat. The boat is 11 ft. long by 4' wide. We would like to mount a small gas powered, short shaft, 4 stroke outboard engine to the boat but we are not sure what HP and weight we should be looking for.

Any ideas? Maximum weight of the engine? Maximum HP? Is there a formula for determining engine size?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Re: What size motor?

It depends on the hull design, if you can post a pic it will be easier for people to make suggestions.

Im in agreement with Bob, 7.5hp is more than enough to push that type of boat.

I'm in the 7.5hp max head count as well. 6hp would most likely be enough.
My 2 cents only though.
