I have a model 50518 50 hp and wondering if anyone could help? This was my dad's boat and it ran great but it's been parked for 4-5 years outside. It turns over but will not start. I don't think it's getting any fire to the plugs. It looks like it has a mag that advances timing and rod that pushes carbs for for more speed?

Remove the three screws on the distributor pully cover and clean and adjust the points to .020" gap. You will need to align the flywheel timing wark for the first set of point adjustment. Next turn the flywheel about 90* and set the other point gap.

If that doesn't restore spark, make sure the black killer wire on the distributor is disconnected. If that doesn't get it, you probably should inspect the coil for cracks and replace the condenser. The coil is contained within the distributor body.
