85 Evinrude, 90hp sensor coil test

I have run the specified sensor coil resistance test and I'm getting a reading of 34 ohms on all connections. One manual I have says I should be getting at least 40 + 10 ohms while another chart I located says 45 + / - 10. I'm not sure what one to believe and if I use the + - factor I'm 1 ohm short.

I'm experiencing popping and cannot get a steady DVA reading on the power packs. Is this in any way related and is my reading too low in either case?

My 86 manual says 40 ohms + - 10, which would indicate that it is ok. I prefer to use the voltage output measurement test to condemn the sensor coil. With a peak-reading voltmeter, you should get at least .3 volts out of it. If less-replace it.

Thank you for the correct specs. However, I do not have the test procedure you reference in my guide. Can you elaborate on that procedure? Is it just keeping in the same connector while cranking?

THanks

My apologies, I do have the test procedure. I'm getting 1.4 volts which should be A OK.

Thanks.
