Last week we got the boat ready for the river. Changed to new gasoline. Started the 9.8 and checked gears, idling, and throttle. All good. We got to the river the next day and it wouldn't fire at all.

Checked the motor today and a white wire had the insulation missing off of about an 1" down to the bare wire. This wire connects to what looks like it might be a coil. I think it must have gotten against the block. I put shrink wrap over it where it is not in contact with the motor. It still will not start or fire. Any ideas?

Thanks

It could have grounded on the powerhead and fried the coil. Borrow another coil if you can and test it.

Thanks for your quick reply. I wouldn't know where to borrow a coil, but I thought that the bare may have shorted something out. I will probably just have to buy one. Do I need to change both of them out or just the one with the bared wire? I am still searching for my manual I bought here at iBoats.

I appreciate your help.
