What does a broken reed sound like?

Id like to check mine out have a feeling one is damaged. I do have oil driping in back of boat been spraying simple green to clean up. Cant really tell where it's comming from. Is this normal to have oil in back splash well. Below the carb line attaching underneath has drip on it but not so sure this is problem. Before I start tearing into the motor does a broken reed make a noise or cause blank? Can I just replace the reed pedals and not whole unit block.

All outboards will leak some gas/oil.You get it from tilting the motor.
A bad reed will cause the motor to miss.Is it running OK?
What makes you think it's a bad reed.
If anything it's a weak diaphram.
Do a comp/spark test and check the diaphram.POst your results.J
