very few engines made today are for diy,s .been thinking about a 60 or 75 hp etec myself lately ,want to buy one last motor before i die ,lol.so if a new etec can last 30years on a per year basis it would not be so expensive .at least thats my twisted logic for spending 7 grand or so,lol.sounds way cheaper! My impression is they are not so simple to work on for the DIY , without the software etc its probably near impossible.
And this being the repair forum , you don't see a lot of posts about them and many get no replies because they aren't DIY engines.
If you can afford the pro repairs at reputable shops then they are very good engines.
