99 mercury 175 high idle 1000 rpms...!!! Help

how do you check or adjust the idle on this engine..??? I would think it should be 750 ish in gear...I check the throttle stop and it's not touching, any ideas...??

just bought the boat today, triton tr19 with 175 merc, was repower'd in last month of 08.....nice boat nice motor but, rough on the lower unit w/ such a high idle.....

thanks in advance .....ps I'm going to order a manual...:D

Get the Mercury Sevice manual, not the other brands. www.maxrules.com has them. 750 rpm sounds right. The adjustment is detailed in the Merc brand manual. It is in the link and sync chapter. Post up questions after you read it over. 175's have a rough idle, well... at least mine:D
