Mercruiser 4.3 hot starting problem

Yesterday, after running for over an hour, near WOT but throttling back for wakes, I shut down for fuel. The engine would not restart until sitting for 20+ min. Then I cranked with throttle wide open until it started. After another hour back to ramp, without shutdown but varying the throttle to cross wakes, etc, it stalled at idle and would not restart (had to "swim it on the trailer"). This is the first time it's done this. I normally run 10-15 min, skiing and tubing, and stop and start without issue. Is the carb float sticking open flooding the bowl? Please help.

I've had 25 views of my problem and 0 replies. Has no one had a hot engine restart/flooding/vapor lock issue?

Hard to tell whats going on. What year boat? Electric or mechanical fuel pump? Sounds like it could be a fuel problem? I would check the adults only sticky and download your engine manual and go from there. One more thought, if you do have an electric fuel pump maybe your oil pressure sensor is going out? Just a shot in the dark at this point. Good luck.

Give it a full tune up including carb cleaner down the carb and get back to us.
