This is my first post and I'm looking forward to hearing your ideas. Here's the story. I have a 25' Grady White w/ twin Johnson Ficht 175's. They are originally 1998 models but had new power heads put on in 2000. The starboard engine runs beautifully but the port engine won't start. Batteries are great. I'm getting fire at the plugs (sprayed starter into the intake just to make sure and she fires right up and runs smooth until the fluid runs out (a few seconds). I only did this twice just to be on the safe side. When checking the fuel system, I am getting fuel to the bulb and to the high pressure pump. The relay for the pump gets very warm but I am not hearing the pump run at all. I double checked the relay by switching relays from the running motor to the one not running and no difference. Is there anything else I should check before purchasing a $600 pump? Can the existing pump/ vapor cannister be cleaned out or re-built? If it can be re-built, does anyone know the procedure and part number for the re-build kit?

Were it mine, I'd get the factory service book (order from the dealer, not seloc) and snag the software with laptop cable off ebay, then pull the codes.
Or pay the dealer to pull the codes and get the printout.
Then you at least know where to look, it might not be pumpos, it could be the computer.

If you can't hear the electric fuel pump when you turn the key to ON, then you may have a "frozen" one from corrosion, or possibly an electrical problem. You can check for fuel pressure using an automotive EFI pressure gauge kit.

Thanks fellas. I had been considering buying the software and manuals anyway.

Any thoughts on rebuilding one of these high dollar/ high pressure pumps or do they become disposable once they fail? (Assuming that it's the pump and not something else).
