Hey guys i just got a 1996 Evinrude 48 SPL on a 1966 MFG Beachcomber trihull boat . its 16ft .

The prop is 12-1/2-x13 .
Ive got no ideal when it comes to prop's im a Jet owner and just switched to a prop.

Im trying for 26-29 mph with this setup think i can do it with the right trim ?

Thanks Rob. 280lb person 50lbs of gear 12 gal' fuel .:)

This motor just came off a 24ft pontoon so im thinking maybe i can go with a higher pitch ..

Re: Right prop?

Try it out.
See what you have for WOT RPM and cruise MPH and RPM. then go from there. You may have the best prop on there right now and not have to change a thing.

Re: Right prop?

The 13 is likely to be too light but test it and get the max rpm and speed.
The final prop will likely be a 15 or 17 that depends on you final numbers.
Your speeds are very doable. Be sure the antivent plate (just above the prop is
about even with the bottom of the boat.It should be visable at speed.Carefully adjust trim. You can run the motor briefly beyond rated rpm to get your figures.

Re: Right prop?

I will try out the prop but i need to get a tach for sure .
Should be easy to throw one on a 1996 evinrude 48spl?

And rpm wise whats the best rpm for the motor ...

Thanks a ton guys for your help!

By the way i dont have power trim or anything i have the manual assist so i need to set it were i plane out decent and get good mph..

I have a wale tail but i took it off i hear these things drag the boat down alot  Ive never use one but it was on this motor i guess due to it being on a pontoon.
