I'm working on a mid 60's Lonestar Holiday 16' and was wondering if anyone could tell me what the piece of wood on the hinges is for? I see from old brochure scans that the back rest had the keyhole bracket & the clip, then could be relocated to form a bunk, but I can't figure out how or what this hinged piece is for. It's on both seat fronts, painted with original paint, and has no fastener holes anywhere, so I don't think anything mounted to them.

Also, any idea what the rectangular cut out it for, if anything, that's on the seat surface? There's one on both seat areas as well.

Lastly, what good is the bow hatch? It's hard to reach from inside the boat, and I wouldn't care to lean over from a dock or beach to try to put anything in or take anything out. Is it just a vent?

Thanks!
