Hello,
i'm new here, i'm Marcel, 27 years old and i am from Rotterdam, The Netherlands,
Europe.
I own a '88 Bayliner Capri 1950 Bowrider with 3.0 OMC GM motor.
I have a problem with the warm start.
When i'm cruising on the rivers and i shut the motor off, i can't get it running again direct.
It will crank, but not fire.
When i wait for about 30-45 minuten i will fire up again without any problems.
When its cold it will fire up in 2-3 second.
I can use it a top speed for longer time and i can cruise for 3 hours without any problem.
I checked the carb and taked the flame arrestor off and pulled the gas cable.
I saw 2 stream of gas squirting in the carb.
Also checked the little filter thats located at the point where the fuel line is bolted to the carb.
Also cleaned the flame arrestor and its pretty clean now.
So i assume its not a fuel problem.
I tryed to start without gas cap with warm motor but that doesnt help, so its not a vacuum problem.
Spark plugs wires and rotor cap and rotor are in good condition.
Also the ignition points seems very clean.
I think it will be the coil, as far is i can see the coil is still original (22 years old now)
Im thinking about upgrading the iginition system with a Pertronix electronic ignition and Petronix coil.
Wil that solve my problems ?
Best regards, Marcel
