Went out on the water, noticed sheen of oil around outdrive, got worse as the unit bobbed up and down in the water. Found the upper vent plug loose! Drained the unit and replaced the gear lube. Poured the lube into a beaker and saw the water settle out. The plugs can come loose and even fall out. Lucky I found it early.
