gonna pull the head off my old motor tonight to get final assessment on how bad the jugs are. on many car engines, you can pull head with manifolds attached....on a BMW or volvo four, they make great handles. since i'm just assessing things inside cyl.s, i'd rather not disassemble and remove manifolds just to get head off. is this possible? can you access all the head bolts etc with manifolds in place?

THANX!

Barato,

Yes, all the head bolts are accessible once the valve cover comes off.
You should be able to remove the head with the manifold attached, it's just going to be awkward and heavy as heck! Hope you have a lift of some sort, or a really strong back.

Been through this several times recently with a 140, essentially the same thing.

Good luck!
Paul
