ford omc 2.3l wont start

i just got a 1989 ford 2.3l omc 4 cylinder from my in laws it sat for about 2 yrs i am having a hard time starting it. my father in law thought he drained all gas but had a half tank that he thought i put in and tried starting it. i drained all gas put fresh gas in and changed plugs. still wont start it has spark and is getting gas it almost starts but wont any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated

Are you sure you have spark at the plugs not just the coil? If so Do you have fuel pumping to the carbruator? If so your carb is plugged up/float etc. You do not want bad fuel in this thing as it will cause issues. These are good little motors and simple to take care of.

They ARE good little longblocks...Its the OMC part thats the issue!

yes i have spark at plugs and my inlaw tried starting it for awhile with bad gas in it. i drained it and still nothing i am getting gas in carb too. but thinking its probably bad gas still in lines. was told by a friend maybe solenoid was bad?
