Hi, I've been going through my motor trying to get it to run. It starts for about 5-10 seconds then promptly quits. I checked the compression and I found 120, 150 and 150 psi. After I pulled the head I remembered that it had a broken ring a few years ago and the mechanic just put in a new piston and rings. The cylinder has one pretty good scrape but the rest is smooth. I think it will need carb kits, a water pump, head gasket and maybe ignition parts minimum. Is this even worth messing with? It has run in the past after the new piston but I'm wondering with those compression numbers will it run well enough to be worth the other parts?

If it has been running for a couple of years that way i would go with carb kits. The compression may cause a rough idle, but you might be ok.

Thanks for the reply. I think I'll put it back together and see if I can get it to run more than ten seconds.
