I'd like to start by saying I love this forum, its taught me alot.

Ok, I have a 1990 Force 150
Model # 1508x90D
Serial # 020835

I'm trying to figure out which carb rebuild kit I need to get. I know the gasket kit is FK10023 but was looking to get more in the kit. I've never done a carb rebuild but I've found out with this engine no local mechanics really want much to do with it, so I'm learning to become my own mechanic. The last time the carbs were rebuilt was at least 8 years ago and I figure they are due especially with the amount of use this engine has had.

Any help will be greatly appreciated in advance and I know I have this forum to come back too if I run into any difficulty.

Boats.net has parts diagrams. You actually have 3 different carbs.Top and bottom take the same kit.The center will take a smaller one.
Now when you open up the carbs your gonna probably have trouble with the needle/seat.They DO NOT like carb soaks and cleaners. There might be small o-rings in the seat that swell from the cleaners.
Before you go crazy look inside one of the carbs. You will be suprised how clean they might be.
I had a pair of 88/85s and NEVER rebuilt them.
As long as you have a good water/fuel filter and use sea foam. You might not need to mess with them. The more you run a motor it actuall keeps it clean.
The worst thing for any boat is not using it.J

Re: 1990 Force 150 Carb rebuild kits

Thanks for the reply jerry

So the middle carb is different and takes a different kit, wouldn't have guessed that....I found one part number for a car rebuild kit thought that it might list 2 different ones since the middle carb is different. Went on ebay and found two listing for the part # 820576a1 and they are asking $50-60 each...thought there might be one cheaper than that..

I figured one of my jets is plugged, seems like the engine is flooding out, and didn't want to any carbs off until I got replacement gaskets, thought while I was at it I'd rebuild the carbs at the same time.

My engine does get alot of use in the past 8 years...mostly did trolling with it until this past year when I added a kicker motor.
