When switching to an Edelbrock 1409 from a Quadrajet, will the old flame arrestor fit, or do I need to order a new one? I know I need to order the adapter/fuel line kit, but is there anything else I need to order while I'm at it? It'll be going on a 1981 Merc 228 if it matters. Any pointers would be nice.

Look at the pictures at the end of this: http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=417799&page=2

Throat size is the same. Question is depending on height diff of carb (if any), plus Squarebore to Qjet adapter thickness, plus height of "your" flame arrester, fits under your dog house. Given a low-profile iron intake on yours, the answer is probably yes. Measure to be sure. ;)
