Smart Tabs & Excessive Wake Splash

I have a 22' Monterey Deckboat with a 5.0 L Volvo Penta running a 14" 21P prop - and sometimes a 19P. Installed smart tabs and noticed that the wake now has an area of extreme turbulence approx 35' behind the boat. This might not be a big deal except that when we pull a tube behind us, this area almost drowns whoever is in the tube. See attached photo (if attachment worked). I assume this turbulence is the result of the convergence of the two streams of water being deflected by the the smart tabs. I have tried various combinations of settings with the tabs, but haven't run across anything that seems to help reduce the problem. Any ideas?

...have you tried adjusting the tabs to a lighter setting, yet enough to keep the bow down?
The 21" probably churns a bit of water when pulling toys: try the 19" and adjust your tabs accordingly

I just put them on my boat and I noticed a wake similar to your photo. I doubt if you can tune it out. Maybe a longer rope?
