Can anyone provide an explanation of the purpose to the Johnson "SERVICE VALVE"? My engines are 1990 Johnon 225's. There is a red knob/lever going into the electric primer area. The OMC part number is 175158 and Sierra part number 18-0871. Neither of my manuals cover repairs, replacement, or even the PURPOSE behind it????

Any help, greatly appreciated, as always...

Re: Johnson "SERVICE VALVE"????

I think you might be talking about the schrader valve used to inject decarb or pickling oil into your engine.
There is really no service to do to it.
It is a direct port into the engine bypassing the carbs.
Hope I explained it well enough.
