Gel Coat Spray Guns

I'm planning on replacing the deck in my fishing boat and spraying it with a gel coat. The boat's 20' long and 8' wide, so I'm going to have a fair amount of spraying to do. I've been doing some research, and a fair amount of the gelcoat/resin spray guns are the disposable canister type. The "external mix" gun would be the most convenient, and I don't have to worry about the mix kickin' inside the gun. I'm concerned that the resin and the catalyst may not mix right. Does anyone have any experience with these external mixing guns?

Re: Gel Coat Spray Guns

Hello Shadetree..

Kinda looks like a "dump" gun to me.

I have not used the ex mix but ive used the regular dump gun. Only for Plug applications though ( making molds and such ).

I would rather use an el-cheapo 2qt pressure pot. Clean/flush after each pot.

I know it can be risky with gel .. you know.. kicking off inside your hose and gun :( .

YD.
