I just aquired a 1971 johnson 9.5 hp. The shorting switch has been disconnected. Anyone have a wiring diagram or info so I can hook it back up?

Also there are 2 wires with connectors comming from under the flywheel on the left side (looking at the front), just wonder what they might be for.

Thanks

The two wires from under the flywheel are for the shorting switch; if it's disconnected, it's probably because the switch wires have lost their covering and are shorting out.

Replacement switches are available through your authorized BRP/Evinrude dealer part #0379638.

You can also use a lanyard type universal switch: http://www.iboats.com/Seadog-Univer...22177724--**********.801491669--view_id.39677

I thought that might be the case but figured someone on here would know for sure. Thanks for the quick reply.
