Motor won't start

Decided to take the boat out today after it has been sitting for 3 weeks. Went to start it at home to be sure, no start. Checked the battery, charged up for about 2 hours to full charge. Made sure all connections were tight. Turn the key, and at first got the starter spinning but not engaging the flywheel. Tried it again and now all I get is a click out of the starter. I went over all connections to make sure all was tight, still only get a clicking noise. The motor is a 1991 Evinrude 90 hp. Think it may be the starter or (hopefully) just the solenoid? How can I tell? Thanks.

The electrical forum is not for engine electrics -- the Johnson/Evinrude forum is where you need to post for much faster and likely accurate response.

Tight is not good enough on starter wire connections, tnduc.

Take them all off and clean them; both wires from the battery, both ends and the wire from the solenoid to the starter motor.

Let us know what happens, and good luck. :)
