cluch dog replacement

I need to replace the clutch dog on my outboard ,1987 120 h.p. Evinrude V4
VRO ,motor serial # E120TXCUR
G1442751

Do I have the hydro gear case or the mechanical one? With out opening the gear case, it"s hard for me to tell the difference in my manual.

Find your model in the Parts catalog go to the gearcase diagram and I think you will find that it is just a plain mechanical shift.

Mechanical.

You will be ahead with an OEM shop manual for this repair.
