wiring question on 4.3 175 mercury

I had a friend help me during a motor swap and he took off some wiring at distributor and coil. Could anyone tell me the colors of wires and were they go? We have 3 white/green on one dist pole and one white and red? Also which is + on coil purple? I am very mechanical but with no diagram I am lost and dont want to burn this up. boat is an 89 18.5 with 175 hp mercruiser 4.3 2v carb. Also which wires go to the which starter terminals? Thanks for the help.

The wires hook to the distributor the same as your bow lights. If you are looking at the front of the motor the green/white go to the left and red/white to the right. As for the coil the purple is the positive side and gray is negative. I'm not totally sure about the starter so hopefully someone else will chime in on that one.

Thank you I found a partial schematic of a v8 which should be the same. It only shows 2 wires to the distributor but i have four? Also on the mechanism for the shifter is all that goes to it is a black ground wire? So far I have the coil hooked up and the distributor. I found the wire for the oil pressure. Looking for a orange wire from alt to starter. I think I have the starter figured out also. Thanks again.
