Not that its any help but I recently bought my first boat with a 1972 70 hp chrysler and finally got it to start but kind of like yours only revved up (no tach on mine) It will kind of idle but die after a little while. I am considering putting some different ignition parts on because it doesn't seem like its got a real strong spark.
