mercruiser alpha one waterpump

when i start my boat on land with the water hose ears on it, how do i tell if its waterpump is working properly? does it "pee" like an outboard does?

Well. You should see a good amount of water coming out either side of the drive at the ports close to the transom, and then another 1/3 coming out the prop.

it' doens't pee like the outboards, there is a "pee Hole" but thats not relative to anything, that hole is a drain hole for the front of the drive

Keep an eye on the engine temp should be 140 or less on the hose and under 180 when under power, over that and you may have a cooling issue.

The Impeller in the outdrive should be changed every other year, or every year depending on use, its cheap and if your somewhat handy with tools easy to do your self.
