I can't find the video because Youtube is blocked here at work, but I remember a long time ago seeing a video here of old GHB almost driving up on the pier while trying to dock his boat. All you saw was about 200 feet of rooster tail and secret service people running all over trying to push the nose of the boat away from the dock. Well, on the news last night, I saw that he managed to beach his boat for his next SHT. This guy is a maniac, I'd be terrified to be on the same lake as him

You may live to be 81, eli. I hope people are as kind to you as you are to 41.

That was about 15 min from my house. Always something going on there...
In his defense, the fog had rolled in fast. I was down on the harbor one town away when it rolled in. Thick as hell.

Probably one of the best answers able to be given.:D

yup. It's tough to criticize ANY president (yes, even the current  ) unless you've held the most powerful position in teh world.

My opinion, If you haven't had any mishaps or run aground, you haven't been anywhere.......yet.

I almost loaded one of mine into the back of the truck instead of the trailer because the wave I was riding in was a bit taller tan I thought it was. There is no feeling like coming in too fast to stay on the wave and seeing the axles of the trailer out of the water.

If the bow eye wouldn't have caught on the winch handle, I would have completly overshot the trailer. As it was, it just dropped about 4' straight down and wifey nailed it to get up on the dry.

BTW- Yes, we did get caught by a bad storm and decided to try and load out instead of ride it out. That boat would have sunk or I'd have grounded it as bad as that storm got.

THIS!! We run shallow rivers. Every story is about getting unstuck. If you (meaning me!) feel bad about doing something bone-headed and getting stuck and causing a huge hassle, I just mention it among other river boaters and immediately get a "worse" story in return, making me feel better!

I love helping others who are stuck because I get to show off what I've learned and be a hero instead of a knucklehead.

sasto,
Couldn't have said it better myself! Its a tuff life out there, while most of the experiences are great we have all had a bad boating day.

On a duel control, 28 Shamrock, at the dock, backing her in her slip, I shifted in foreward, engine at idle, my jacket cuff caught the throttle, full, launched like a rocket foreward. Ran her aground in front of co-workers sipping on a brew. :D

If you've never had a bad day boating, you haven't been boating long. Still, a bad day on the water is better than a good day at work. Unless you're a porn star. 8^)

Even standing at the helm while waves washed over the pontoon deck high enough to get my hat wet was a great day 'cause I was out there doing it! As far as dockside disasters; grandpa's follies are always good for a laugh.

but for the grace of the gods, could have been any one of us. Lesson is to learn from not only our own mistakes but from the mistakes that others are kind enough to share with us.

Wonder what hes gonna do with his damaged boat. I would be willing to take it off his hands for a small fee of course......

Re: George HW Bush

I know I have posted a few of my own stoopid escapades while boating....which makes me human! I see no difference coming from a former president who also happens to be human, too.

Caa caa happens. Didnt that dude jump out of an airplane a few years ago in his 70s to tandem jump or something to commemorate his WW II emergency ejection? 41 has some brass ones, if you ask me!

He's a celebrity and there's video, this makes it funnier than when it happens to you or I! (Plus, no one was hurt).

I was watching the news and the bit was with the county cops. They where talking about how the waters here on the Columbia can put you in a bad spot quick. At that time they ran onto a sand bar. Even the cops do it from time to time.

Is this the video?

It almost looks like he meant to throw it in reverse, but gunned it in forward gear instead.
