Crusader Timing Issue

A Dual station Dual motor Carver, with Twin Crusador 7.4 MIE 454 Gen VI motors. I have just recently put rebuilt heads, and new exhaust on the port motor, and new exhaust on the starboard motor. I went to time the port motor at 10 degrees like it should be and the timing gun is lighting up sparatically. Checked starboard motor which I havent touched and it is doing the same thing. Motor seems to run perfect though, on both sides. It has a B & G display deal, I am wondering if that has anything to do with the mixed readings? If I unplug the B & G and put it on timing mode, will it let me time it? Any ideas and suggestions are always helpful.

Thanks,
Mike Bennett

Re: Crusader Timing Issue

Check the shift interrupter. Spent way too many hours tracing out the same issue on my old CVX-18, intermittent spark drop-outs.

Why even try to time it if it's not in timing mode?? In/out of timing mode you should still get even strobes.

Have you checked the timing light on another vehicle to verify it is working properly?
