Price of rebuilding a lower unit?

1975 Johnson 135 HP lower unit is shot, don't want to pay 3700.00 for a new one yet... Rebuild it? How much it cost to have done?

Bearings feel bad, gear lube pours out faster than i can put it in from behind the prop shaft. also, when I had it off the motor, I couldn't hardlt turn the main input shaft in forward, neutral or reverse gear with a pipe wrench.

Hae you priced a new gearcase from SEI? They might be cheaper than a rebuild. Also, used gearcases may be avail as well.

I don't think SEI makes one for him. Their selection appears to be pretty limited to newer V6's I believe. I'd be looking on ebay/CL for a used one.

I'm checking on eBay right now...no I just gotta figure out why I'm not getting spark, mag could use a cleaning I'm sure.
