what should the compression be for a 1974 mercury 65hp? just wondering. thanks

Consistancy is more important than actual compression reading to a point. All cyliders should read within 5 PSI of each other. 100+ PSI is good compression. My Merc 75 has 120 PSI per cylinder but I have an old JohhnyRude 4.5 that runs like a charm with 60 PSI per cylinder.
