Hi, I just recently got an old boat and motor with my dad we finished repairing the boat and are now working on the motor. The motor seems to be miss firing a bit so were looking at adjusting the timing of it. Does any one happen to the know the RPMs and where we can find the timing mark/line for the motor?

The motor is a Mercury 350 (35hp) Lightning, serial:2573341 which i believe makes it a 1969.

Any help would be great thanks.

Re: Mercury 350 timing

If you have a misfire, it is more than likely the condensers. The original ones tend to be troublesome after 40+ years... Also a good idea to replace the points while under the flywheel. Unless the coils have visible damage, they are probably alright.

The timing is set when you set the points at .020".
