Need help with Evinrude 6hp Fisherman

I found someone with a 1979 6hp Evinrude power head. I was wondering will this work on my 1966 6hp?

You could try going to the OEM website and look up some part numbers and see if they are the same.

It probably will. I've seen a '65 6hp with a '78 powerhead on it, recently.

Check the part numbers for the crankshaft, the propshaft and the powerhead to midsection gasket. If they match up, you probably have a go. A conversation with your local OMC/BRP dealership/parts dept., would be a good idea.
