1975 135 Johnson
I was having trouble with the starter bindix sticking. Please read this post first...has pics.

Took the starter back to the shop where I got it and the guy put on a new bindix and charged me 16 bucks. Note that this starter is only 6-7 months old with MAYBE 25 starts on it. When I took it off to take it to the shop, I noticed that shaft didnt turn smoothly....it felt like it was grinding inside.
I told the guy that and he said it was the heavy magnets inside and it was normal.
Put the starter on tonight and hit the key and the starter just draged and would still stick to the flywheel.
I said to hell with it and took the damn thing apart and this is what I find:
What happened and what should I do??

I would imagine someone during the life of that starter was having issues and I would guess they hit the starter which cracked the magnet.
